Is prioritizing yourself enough to love yourself?
It's been more than a year since I came to know about Self Love.
A friend of mine told me about a book on self-love and how self-love is the key to happiness.
I read the book and I loved it. I've just made my mind that I'm gonna love myself and only myself. Because other people were hurting me, the desire for their acceptance was hurting me. And I needed to stop it. As the book suggested I need to love myself.
So, I decided to follow everything the book said. I started to prioritize myself.
Now the question is: Do I love Myself?
And the answer is: No.
Yup! I know I said I decided to follow the book and prioritizing myself. But.
The moment someone asked me for help, I said, "Yes" even when I didn't want to do whatever the thing was.
I found myself doing all the same things I used to do before reading the book.
Nothing has changed.
But, Why? So I asked myself.
Is prioritizing myself enough to love me?
Well, prioritizing is also one of the main ingredients of self-love. But other ingredients are required equal to love yourself.
In my case, the other ingredient that was missing was Self-acceptance.
Accepting yourself for who you are.
Accepting myself was a little hard for me.
I used to think what people will think. Will they accept me if I go wearing this or if I say something that I wanted to say instead of what they wanted to hear.
It was hard because looking for someone else's acceptance has become a habit to me. It was hard to break the habit. But it wasn't impossible.
Self-acceptance didn't come easy but it came eventually.
I've learned that The way you look at yourself is the way others will look at you.
You don't have to change the real you. Just need to love your true self. BE YOURSELF
